Tips For Throwing The Perfect Tea Party

Tea parties are all the rage nowadays, with many people even having ‘tea party’ themed weddings, albeit with teapots filled to the brim with vodka, rather than tea! If you want to keep on top of party trends but are more interested in going down the traditional route, then follow this short guide to throwing the perfect tea party:

Set the scene

First things first, you need to think about whether your party will be indoors or outdoors, and of course nature may just take that decision out of your hands! For an indoor evening tea party, you might want to create a soothing atmosphere with fairy lights and candles, and decorate the room with traditional items such as lace tablecloths or bunting.

If you’re venturing outside, then you could think about setting up a table and chairs on an even surface, or you could simply throw down a blanket and have your tea party guests sit on the floor as they would if you were holding a picnic.

Choose a dress code

This may be a tea party, but it’s still a party, and what better way to keep things interesting than by having a dress code or a fancy dress theme.

Select the tea

Your tea party guests will doubtless all have different preferences when it comes to their favorite teas, so you will want to offer them a wide selection. Some prefer tea bags, while others like to keep up traditions with loose leafed tea, or you could ask your guests to bring along their own favorite tea. Don’t be afraid to experiment; what better time to try out a new tea than at a tea party.

Make sure there are enough teapots and cups for every guest

Now this might seem obvious, but how many of us own more than one teapot? We all accrue teacups and mugs over the years, but teapots are perhaps something that we tend to have just one of. You could really go to town and purchase brand new tea sets, or you could take a trip to your local online store and buy some mix and match sets. Whatever takes your fancy, just make sure that there are enough to go round.

Select some tasty treats

The main theme of your party is of course tea, but your guests will expect a snack or two and it’s up to you how much you want to provide. Traditionally, tea parties would involve plates of finger sandwiches or a selection of small cakes and pastries, with everything being bite sized, but if you want to break tradition and offer your guests something else, you can be as creative and imaginative as you wish.
